Fabric can make or break the final design of a chair.
It can be the difference between drab and wow factor, and we guess you’ve chosen the latter, so how do you keep it that way?
Burgess has a huge range of fabrics in our collection, from renowned brand such as Panaz, Sunbury Design and Agua to name but a few. Different fabrics will all have varying care instructions, faux leather to polyester to velvet, for example, but there are a few things you can do across the board to keep those colours fresh.
Do:
- Vacuum crumbs or food spills immediately
- Use a damp cloth to dab clear or light liquid spills
- Check each individual brand for their care instructions. Especially for leathers, velvets and faux, as some fabrics need to be handled much more delicately, and care can vary from supplier to supplier
- Damp cloths made from microfibres work well to clean chair frames too, mild soap can be used when necessary for chrome and painted frames
- Dry soft cloths are great to remove fingerprints or smudges from chrome frames
- Contact the supplier directly for the correct care instructions if you have requested a fabric from outside of our collection
- Use commercially available fabric cleaners if you really need to, but ALWAYS do a test run first to make sure the fabric you have can handle it
- Keep calm
Don’t
- Use abrasive scourers
- Use bleach or strong chemicals, or solvent-based cleaners – these can lead to permanent damage
- Rub or scrub, dab gently. Fabric is your friend, be nice
- Try and cover with a cushion and walk away. The sooner you deal with a spill, the better
- Neglect your chairs, give them a vacuum regularly to keep them fresh
